Scott took me as a birthday surprise to Woodstock Farm Sanctuary in upstate New York and I got to pet all the rescue pigs, donkeys, cows, chickens, goats, sheep, and turkeys. They are now living in paradise but a couple of months ago they were living in pure fucking hell.
I read a book 2 years ago called, "Eating Animals" and it changed the way I ate. I stopped eating meat completely 2 years ago because of the horrors of factory farming and because of my love for animals. I struggled with the notion that I had such a heart for dogs but I was eating chicken, pig, and cow.
I was left feeling really shitty after reading about the horrific realities of what millions of animals go through on a daily basis. It ripped my heart into shreds and I lost a little faith in humanity. It's more than cruelty that these animals suffer in the hands of humans-it's inhumane, it's torture, it's brutality, it's murder.
It's not only meat I am cutting out-it's dairy and hopefully I'll be 100% vegan one day!
If you are a meat-eater, do the research on how these factory farms are ruining our environment and killing the human race.
I have nothing but admiration and respect for people who dedicate their lives to saving animals. Go visit http://woodstocksanctuary.org/.
